I wanted to keep my photos somewhere safe so the storage here should be good no? I don't think I should upload my work online anymores... I'm not gonna do this professionally and hell I think I'll just let the magazines and my friends see them

Forgive me for the inactivity... I've become the living dead it feels like.

I finally got me a job but for me to really pay off my tuition/other expenses, I need to work a ton of hours! So now I work 19 hours per week and am sleepy sleepy sleepy... I work over in a café and some days I feel fine but some day it's like I was hit by a train and just feel so knackered.

I also have to boost my grades up, I need two A's and two B's to balance out how bad I did last semester so now I need to get work and that into account.

The nice part is though, Yearbook photo will be a bit more relaxed this semester seeing as all the big stuff (except Carnival) pretty much is over and I can do in free time.

So I'll get onto critiquing as soon as I can and maybe I can snag some photos to upload too, I just hope I don't die doing so XP

There's a guitarist on my bed singing about how I'm wearing a fedora, about him being race-blind, candy, how I'm wearing a bathrobe, about his plans tomorrow, his plan to get ripped, and my crazy college choice.

Photo meetings are on Monday so I won't be able to get any stuff until Then and then I'll get some "raw material" to work with. In the meantime, I saw No Country for Old Men and I thought Anton Chigurh was badass so I might do something with the character. I might not be too active this year though, I need to land a job (I got fired ) , so it'd be a big timesucker...

Well finals are over... hope I did well. I go home on Wednesday... my family is going to be crawling over me like leeches . I hope I can get some teashade sunglasses for Christmas... or maybe an SLR, we'll see XD

I'm not going to be updating my photography section for a while.
The reason why I'm going on a brief hiatus is because I've simply run out of pictures to upload

Some of you may know that I do not own my own camera... I would love to have one but due to financial issues I don't have a good one. Unfortunately I have a "brick" camera, standard quality camera used for myspace photos, trips to Disneyland, etc. Thanks to the yearbook photo committee they let me borrow their cameras (Nikon SLRs) and I shoot some events and I use this to get some photos. I then give all the photos to the staff and they keep then all on a server and then from there I take a flash drive and bring the photos to my computer. Here I crop them, enhance brightness/contrast, place the watermark etc. I usually take about 2 Gigs of photos with me at once and now I've seem to have run out of "raw material". I don't bring all the photos I shot honestly, just certain ones that I liked better than others. Now that the yearbook office is closed, I won't be able to get anything until next semester. I might be able to find a darkroom so I'll be able to print some old negatives I want to finish up but there will be no digital photography until next semester.

So now there will be other pieces being done... either some stupid stamps, maybe some prose, maybe some photomanipulation. But we shall see how this goes...

Well since a lot of stuff has happened I felt that an update was necessary and here it is.

Well it's Thanksgiving break and everyone is gone... except the Hawaiian kid, the dude across the hall from me, the confused Burmese man from New Jersey, my RA, and myself. The dorm and the campus will have a dead feel to it seeing as how the campus will be mostly empty and the fact that its snowing in a very very light powder and is coming down furiously so it feels like rain. And I hit a low when this all happened so that didn't help

On another note I have a huge guilt trip hitting me right now. I was assigned to shoot at Dancer's Symposium (I'm in Yearbook photo so this is where all my work come from...) and while I was there I filled up the first memory card rather quickly. When I was swapping cards I noticed that the second card wouldn't fit for some reason so I left the Symposium and noticed that not even the first card fit back in. I took the camera back and after examining it the other staff noted that there were these two bars that came out of place that needed to be fixed. The reason that they came out of place in the first place though was because I rushed in taking out the first card and trying to put in the second one. I didn't want to miss any valuable shots like I did at Bhangra in the Burgh (I got 3 shots of our school's team and 300 of everything else including the other teams ). Now they need to repair the camera and I feel as if it were my fault. They told me not to kick myself for it (It's hard not to, it's an expensive camera...) but now there are only two cameras to work with and now they're limited. So now I can't go out and do the photography I wanted because one- that was the D200, my preferred camera, and that I've lost a bit of the staff's trust with this. So now I have to use my rectangular brick camera (sorry Ashley! I wanna do the shoot with this ) and it feels weird going back to the brick. I guess it's up to photoshop now...

Other than that I've been good for the most part, I need to get my grades up so I can overload next semester and have my scholarship kick in. So pray for me my friends... I'm gonna need it.

I was at Bhangra in the Burgh... it was amazing (photos will come) and what struck me was the emotion that came from it. Unlike most cultures India can trace it's roots back to God knows how far back and still keep in touch with these roots unlike many others. When I saw Bhangra I saw no flashy lights, actors, or special effects, this was all soulful dance of pure joy and culture. When I saw the smiles on their face, it wasn't the stage smile that I knew how to give; this was from the emotion of joy of dancing from the soul with no fluff, no false intentions, just pure soul.

It's how it is with Indian culture I guess, they are so in touch with their roots that they don't need fluff to build themselves up but just their own souls.

I wanna visit India now

Good news

I found my flash drive!!! It has about 2 gigs of memory so that should give me at least 400 jpg photos, which aint bad at all... I might be able to upload them today if I get to go back to the office and grab my photos.

Bad news

I went to Navrati Garba, for those of you who don't know (like my spell check) it's part of an Indian 9 day festival which includes dancing, prayer, and dancing with these sticks that almost smashed my camera.

I've never gotten too much into Indian culture back home, there were only about 3 Indians in my school. Now; there are at least 3 Indians on every floor.

It was so beautiful... the colors were vibrant, the people were friendly and happy, the food was good, and the lighting...

SUCKED BALLS!

So I had to use the flash on the camera and it killed so many of the great photos that could have been used. It's such a damn shame.

I joined the yearbook photo department and now I gets a new toy to play with!!!!1 It's a Nikon camera (I'm more familiar with Canon so it's a bit difficult) so I need to get used to it more but I love my photos!!!1 I just need a portable hard drive to store them all in and have fun with em.

I decided to upload my contact sheets from Photo class in case some people want me to print something I didn't print. A contact sheet is basically a sheet of all my negatives I'll put them all up as soon as I can.

Well, finals are generally over, so I think I'll be able to update some work on here... maybe even tonight. I love how my Psychology final went, I made the audience both laugh and cry (which means I got an A!). I'm actually sick of high school, I'm only gonna miss a handful of people really XD. I love my photo final and will be uploading it, my teacher told me she had no idea a student could think of something of that caliber. Other than that all I got is my English final and if you want to see my powerpoint for Psychology just leave a comment.

If you have little brothers/sisters or are a Disney fanatic you might have seen this guy on TV (Mike's super short show). I youtubed this and I cannot stop laughing, I actually know Mike pretty well. I'm not gonna get an autograph for all of you guys because he's left the TV industry really He's actually going to college next year, he's a senior at my school and he's in NHS with me so it's funny having a celebrity in your class . But I know enough about him to answer some fan questions.

Normally this journal entry would be filled with joy and all that jazz. I got to see my top university choices (Carnegie Mellon and Notre Dame), I got myself an awesome prom date (much cuter than I thought I would get actually), and I felt full of spunk as I know I'm succeeding waaaaaaaaaay above my relatives.

But then a called a good friend and her aunt just died...

MAJOR JOYKILL....

Honestly I've never had a relative pass away, and if one did I don't think I'll be as emotionally torn as her. I think it's because my family is huge (no really, it's huge...) and I've really hardened my heart, but she has little family and she gets so attached that I had no idea what to say when she gave me the news. I just felt helpless...

All I can do now is pray, hope she lived a good life and will leave this abyss called Earth to a more joyous place.

By the way, I've only 2 university choices left...

I've cut the list down to those two so I just gotta find the better one...

An artist I met in public and seen her work live!!! OHMYGODREALLYISSHEGOINGTOCARNEGIEMELLONGIVINGMEINCENTIVETOGOTHERE!?!??!?!

I've been doing a lot of work (schools and scholarships) so I'm kind of inactive right now...

But it paid off, so far I got into 5 universities, was rejected by 4, and I'm still waiting on 2 of them.

USC (I wasn't rich enough for them )
Harvard College (I applied for the hell of it, I knew I wouldn't get in But you never know)


In other news I found out that if the rate my pageviews are going right now, I'll be able to reach 3k in less than 2 months...

So it took me two years to get 1k, 3 months to get 2, so this is a major improvment!!!!!
